Cool Change is currently accepting proposals for its 2023 Residency Program.

We have two residency slots available between August 2023 and January 2024 and invite proposals from artists, curators, producers and collectives across art forms to undertake a two-month residency with us.

Proposals are due by 11:59 PM on Friday 14 July 2023. All applicants will be notified of programming decisions by late July 2023. Please note that submission of an application does not guarantee a position within the program.

Cool Change exists to support and cultivate the collective pathways of emerging and experimental arts for artists at any stage of practice. This support is twofold: to nurture collective artistic potential as an essential variable for the existence of critical and agile communal environments—places where we share what we think and make—and to bolster the personal and enduring nature of the artist in our contemporary world—people who think and make.

The CC collective have spent our closure period rethinking our previous operations and structures. As such, our programming will take on new adaptions and changes to suit our situation. In particular, we will be shifting our focus to longer programming cycles, led by a newly-designed residency model to make use of our new office, project space and organisational partnerships.

The Residency Program is a pilot; a way to situate Cool Change as a testing grounds for new forms of programming and presentation.

Application information can be found on our website.

Each residency project will receive a fee of $3,000 (inc. GST). This fee is set through recommendations and from our past programming experience. It is designed to support your residency and the delivery of outcomes.

Please get in touch with any questions.

We look forward to hearing from you!
