Cool Change and PS Art Space are pleased to present loose ,, sparkling, a curated library and site-specific installation by Kelsey D and Justine Walsh that seeks to explore the false divide between the human and non-human—the natural and unnatural.
J+K: { … a long time talking about stones }
K: also been thinking about vessels, yeah?
J: yes always
K: ugh <3
J: but the first thing i thought of is blood vessels
K: yes those too
K: i dropped a big stone on my foot last week and
broke some of my blood vessels, my whole foot is a bruise
J: yesss that's a kind of intimacy too
Drawing from urban ecology, deep listening, vital materiality, and automatic writing while mining the duo’s longstanding friendship, queer sensitivities, streaming thoughts, and esoteric conversations, Kelsey and Justine will present an exploratory sculptural and audiovisual landscape in response to the PS Art Space building alongside a curated selection of texts including the likes of Saskia Beudel, Derek Jarman, Clarice Lispector, Joanna Macy, and Pauline Oliveros.
J: It’s like, what is a brick? It is made up of all these minerals and beings, and then thousands of those that you live inside of! All these ancient beings that we live inside, do we know what we are doing?!
Playful and interdisciplinary, the collaborative project seeks to find portals of empathy and intimacy in urban environments as the outcomes of ongoing research into the ecology and materiality of deep time (comparative to ‘human time’, the billions of years that form geological or cosmic time).
